MEDELLÍN

Today?s Medellín is a global example of urban and social transformation. It has attracted the interest not only of urban planners, architects, and politicians, but also of people from all over the world who did not previously dare to visit it and now arrive to experience the city and get to know it.This book is structured around actual city walks, a way of taking the reader by the hand so that, through images, he or she can understand the process of ?seams? created in the city of Medellín. It is the vision of the residents of each of the neighborhoods included that is revealed through the work of firstrate international photographers; both wide-angle shots and close-ups that make it possible for the reader to understand the context while at the same time observing specific details, intimate or public, human or urban.Although it is essentially a visual book, it includes a section of original printed documents (posters, newspapers, magazines) that will help the reader to understand how art and culture have been and continue to be forms of resistance and responses to violence in favor of life.The book will be presented at the 7th World Urban Forum to be held in Medellín, Colombia in 2014.
